CLAREMONT, Calif. – College of Chicago’s ladies’s volleyball program continued its dramatic 2022 marketing campaign with a comeback victory in 5 units over Texas Lutheran on Thursday within the opening spherical of the 2022 Division III Girls’s Volleyball Championship.
The Maroons, which have now performed in 10 five-set matches in 2022, erased a 2-0 set deficit to storm again and declare the five-set win over Texas Lutheran. Within the course of, UChicago notched its first NCAA Event win away from residence since 2013.
UChicago fell to TLU 25-15 and 25-17, respectively within the opening two units. The Maroons then turned the momentum of their favor in set three with a decent 25-22 victory. UChicago proved clutch once more within the fourth set with a 25-23 victory, setting the stage for the fifth set. Forward 13-12, Maggie McInerney completed the ultimate two kills whereas TLU traded factors to safe the 15-13 win.
McInerney racked up 20 kills and picked up 13 digs. Emma Lotts, a California native, posted her finest line of the season with 9 kills and a .444 assault proportion. Ellie Alden and Diya Mishra each had double-digit kills within the center with 15 and 11, respectively. Maya Patel dished out 36 assists whereas Maddie Ryan completed with 19. Julia Craig racked up 28 digs, a season-high.
