San Diego Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar suffered a concussion and cervical pressure after a scary outfield collision with teammate C.J. Abrams on Thursday night time.
The Padres positioned Profar on the 7-day concussion injured listing on Friday night time.
The following step for Profar is to finish the league’s concussion protocols.
“We’ll see the place we go from there and see if he passes all of the protocols after that,” Padres manager Bob Melvin said. “However I believe we actually caught a break and there is nothing worse than that.”
Profar is batting .242/.343/.397 with eight house runs and 38 RBI in 83 video games for the Padres this season.
The Padres recalled outfielder Brent Rooker from Triple-A El Paso to take Profar’s spot on the lively roster.
In 49 video games for El Paso, Rooker is batting .279/.401/.596 with 14 house runs and 43 RBI.
He performed 58 video games for the Minnesota Twins in 2021, batting .201/.291/.397 with 9 house runs and 16 RBI.
