ST. LOUIS — Padraig Harrington bogeyed the ultimate gap Saturday for a 5-under 66, leaving him only a stroke forward of Steve Stricker and Bernhard Langer with a spherical lead within the Ascension Charity Traditional.
Harrington, the three-time main winner and most up-to-date European Ryder Cup captain, was at 11-under 131 at Norwood Hills. The Irishman has two victories and 4 runner-up finishes in his first full PGA Tour Champions season.
Harrington rebounded from a bogey on the par-4 14th with three straight birdies, then misplaced one other stroke on the par-4 18th.
Stricker, coming off a win two weeks in the past in Michigan, shot a 65. The 65-year-old Langer had a 67. Langer received the Chubb Traditional early within the 12 months for his forty third senior victory, two shy of the document held by Hale Irwin.
Charles Schwab Cup chief Steven Alker (68) was 8 below with Y.E. Yang (66).
Former British Open champion Justin Leonard, who retired early to work tv, was tied for twenty fourth at 4 below in his debut on the 50-and-over tour along with his second 69.
