In an upset that took two days to finish, China’s Wang Qiang has taken out No.14-seeded Belinda Bencic, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 at Wimbledon.
Wang, who entered the competition with a 3-5 lifetime document and three first-round defeats in 5 appearances at Wimbledon, will face Tamara Korpatsch or Heather Watson within the second spherical.
The victory is Wang’s first victory over a seed at Wimbledon. The World No.140, a former World No.12, is a 2019 US Open quarterfinalist.
