CHICAGO – College of Chicago’s top-ranked males’s tennis program swept North Central on Saturday afternoon on the XS Tennis Complicated.
The Maroons received their fourth-straight match to open the spring season and accomplished their third-consecutive sweep with a 9-0 win over North Central. UChicago notched three victories in doubles led by No. 3 doubles pairing Biren Reddy and Sachin Das‘ 8-3 end result.
At No. 2 doubles, Arjun Asokumar and Pat Otero defeated their oppponents 8-4 whereas the No. 1 doubles group of Andrei Leonov and Derek Hsieh secured an 8-5 win.
Asokumar (6-3, 6-3), Hsieh (6-4, 6-2), Das (6-0, 6-2) and Leonov (6-3, 6-2) all cruised of their respective singles matches as nicely with straight-set victories. Emil Grantcharov, at No. 4 singles, battled again from a 7-6 defeat within the opening set to assert 6-4, 10-4 wins within the closing two frames. Marek Michulka rounded out the lineup with a 6–0, 6-1 dispatching of his opponent.
UChicago takes on DePauw at XS Tennis on Sunday, February 12 at 10 a.m. in a tune-up earlier than taking over No. 12 Denison on February 19.
