Maroon Women’s Track & Field Finishes 5th at NCAA Outdoor Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A record-setting ultimate day for the College of Chicago girls’s monitor & area group resulted in a fifth-place group end on the NCAA Out of doors Monitor & Discipline Championships on Saturday.

With 251 represented colleges competing throughout the three-day meet, UChicago’s fifth place was its highest group end ever on the outside nationwide meet.

The 1,500 meters noticed three Maroons within the finals. Maddie Kelly smashed her personal college document with a time of 4:22.97, beating her earlier finest by almost 5 seconds. Kelly took second place within the race to earn All-American standing. She was joined on the All-American podium by teammate Evelyn Battleson-Gunkel, who claimed sixth place in 4:23.80.

Within the 100-meter finals, Gabriela Meschino chopped 0.12 seconds off her prelims mark with a time of 11.74. The junior completed third within the occasion and garnered All-American honors.
