Leon Edwards says Colby Covington ‘in for a total shock’

UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards believes Colby Covington’s current wins are weak.

Edwards (21-3 MMA, 13-2 UFC) will look to notch his second title protection when he meets Covington (17-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) within the UFC 296 major occasion on Dec. 16 in Las Vegas.

Covington’s most up-to-date wins have come over Jorge Masvidal, Tyron Woodley and Robbie Lawler – all who’re not energetic UFC fighters.

“Like I stated, that is his fourth title shot. I really feel like he is aware of that is his final one,” Edwards advised UFC Europe. “So far as what’s on the road for me, how lengthy it took me to get it, so I really feel like we’ve each acquired lots to show in there. Unbeaten in his previous 12 fights, Edwards is unfazed by Covington’s antics and trash speak. He vows to take him out.

“He’s at all times enjoying a personality, and among the sh*t he’s popping out and saying simply doesn’t make sense to me,” Edwards stated. “He’s like, I’ll come again for the struggle that occurred in America. I used to be like, ‘Mate, I don’t even know what you’re on about.

“I feel that man is a clown. However I’m centered on going on the market, taking him out, defending my belt for a second time, simply carrying on my journey. He’s simply one other man that’s in my method, and I’m going to take him out.”
