Los Angeles Dodgers legend Maury Wills died on Monday night on the age of 89, the workforce introduced on Tuesday.
The Dodgers shared a photograph of Wills and mentioned they had been saddened by the legend’s passing.
Wills performed 14 seasons in MLB from 1959-72. He performed 12 seasons with the Dodgers, a part of a season with Montreal and two with the Pirates.
The 5-foot-11 shortstop was identified for his protection and velocity. He led the league in steals six instances throughout his profession, together with in 1962, when he stole 104 bases. Wills received NL MVP that yr along with the second of two Gold Gloves he acquired throughout his profession.
Wills was a five-time All-Star, two-time Gold Glove winner and one-time NL MVP. He received three World Sequence with the Dodgers and batted .367 within the 1965 World Sequence win over the Twins.
Wills continued to work with the Dodgers properly after his retirement. He helped train throughout spring coaching and even mentored present Dodgers supervisor Dave Roberts.
