Sergi Bruguera’s tenure as Spanish Davis Cup captain has come to an finish.
The 51-year-old Bruguera and Spanish Tennis Federation determined “by mutual settlement” to finish his reign as Davis Cup captain, the RFET introduced at the moment.

“Sergi Bruguera and the RFET, by mutual settlement, have determined to finish the stage of the Spanish tennis participant as coach of the MAPFRE Davis Cup nationwide workforce,” the RFET introduced in an announcement. “The RFET Board of Administrators needs to specific its gratitude to Sergi Bruguera for his work on the helm of the Spanish workforce since 2017.
“The double champion of Roland Garros and silver medalist in Atlanta leaves with the gratitude of the followers and everybody Gamers.”

Bruguera will proceed teaching Alexander Zverev in 2023.
Zverev’s ex-coach, David Ferrer, is without doubt one of the main candidates to succeed Bruguera as new Spanish Davis Cup captain.
In October, 2017, Bruguera formally succeeded Conchita Martinez as Spanish Davis Cup captain. Bruguera captained a Spanish squad led by Rafael Nadal, Roberto Bautista Agut and Feliciano Lopez to its sixth Davis Cup championship with a win over Canada within the 2019 Davis Cup Remaining.
