There’s a lot of smoke in league circles about Blazers-Raptors talks [for Damian Lillard]. Toronto’s interest, I believe, is genuine. They’ve younger items (OG Anunoby, Scottie Barnes), huge contracts and sufficient draft capital to make an attractive provide. And it doesn’t sound like Masai Ujiri & Co. are too anxious about Lillard’s publicly expressed need to play in Miami. Bear in mind, when the deal for Kawhi Leonard went down, Leonard reportedly didn’t need any a part of it. Look how that labored out. That mentioned, I don’t get it. Logistically it’s extraordinarily difficult. In 2018, when Toronto acquired Leonard, the price was DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected first-round choose. Steep, however manageable (clearly) given what the Raptors had. -via Sports Illustrated / September 26, 2023
