Rising MotoGP star Pedro Acosta believes Marc Marquez tried to overhaul him “like nobody was there” after his early exit from Saturday’s Barcelona Grand Prix dash race.
Acosta made a fast launch from sixth on the grid to leap to fourth place at first, behind the Ducati GP24s of Enea Bastianini, Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin.
However heading into the tight right-hander of Flip 3, Acosta was hit by the chasing Gresini bike of Marc Marquez, with the influence ripping the entrance fairing off the entrance of his GasGas-branded KTM RC16.
The 20-year-old was pressured to pit on the finish of the lap and retire from the race, whereas Marquez managed to seize three championship factors in seventh.
Talking after the race, Acosta made it clear that he was unimpressed with Marquez’s transfer, stressing that he was forward of him going into the nook.
“I used to be in entrance. I didn’t see anybody till Marc hit me. I used to be full on the suitable [of the track], [on the] inside,” he defined.
“He went in like nobody was there. I cannot say that it was his fault or not, however it was the third nook, it was not essential to go like this.
“Even in nook two, it was Marc behind me, with [Franco] Morbidelli additionally. OK, he was in a position to carry extra pace.
“OK, when you carry extra pace you overtake me and when he began to shut the road [and] I [got] hit like this.
“However anyway I used to be there. I wasn’t in a position to see him outdoors.
“I am pissed off; it has been a very long time since a fairing like that got here off [like this] in MotoGP.”
Whereas Marquez didn’t take full duty for the incident, he conceded that the onus was on him to keep away from contact with Acosta on that event.
He likened the conflict to that between Acosta and his Tech3 team-mate Augusto Fernandez in Friday observe during which the pair ended up on the ground after contact at Flip 5.
“I’m at all times trustworthy in these conditions and the contact was a racing incident, but when anybody might have averted it it was me, he could not see me,” he stated.
“We met and he did not see something, what occurred to Augusto Fernandez yesterday [in practice], [it was] the identical.”
