ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – In its opening match of the 2022 College Athletic Affiliation (UAA) Championship, the College of Chicago girls’s tennis staff cruised to a 5-0 victory over College of Rochester (N.Y.) on Friday morning.
The No. 1-ranked Maroons improved their season document to 16-1. The Yellowjackets fell to 7-6.
UChicago entered the eight-team convention event as the highest general seed. The Maroons lived as much as the billing by quickly capturing 5 bouts to finish the match through choice. Doubles obtained UChicago rolling with three victories by scores of 8-7, 8-2 and 8-0.
In singles, first-year Shianna Guo claimed the primary win 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2. Then fellow first-year Nicole Geller ended the proceedings with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 4.
