The 2024 Desafío Ruta 40 YPF INFINIA can be a bit shorter than originally revealed in March, although the overall route design stays.
The up to date laws now record the race as spanning 3,067 kilometres with 1,792 km in Selective Sections versus the unique 3,213 km complete with 2,085 being timed. With the enormously lowered distance, all however two legs are shorter than what they initially had been; the exceptions are the Prologue (one kilometre longer) and Stage #5 (eleven km longer).
Córdoba remains to be the primary hub for the rally, internet hosting the Prologue, Stage #1, the beginning of Stage #2, and the end of the ultimate leg. The primary stage was initially 466 km lengthy in SS whereas the second was 497 km. Stage #4, from San Juan to La Rioja, loses essentially the most SS kilometrage because it goes from 509 km to only 412. Half of its liaison part will function switch sections.
A lot of the rally, particularly in Córdoba, can be performed on gravel terrain, although chotts will play elevated roles throughout Phases #2 and #3 in San Juan. Stage #4 will see a mix of gravel, asphalt, chotts, and even dunes.
The bivouac opened on Monday and the rally headquarters at Complejo Ferial Córdoba on Thursday, although race actions will start 1 June with scrutineering. The Prologue commences on 2 June.
The DR 40 is the fourth and penultimate spherical of the 2024 World Rally-Raid Championship. 115 teams, together with defending winners Nasser Al-Attiyah and Tosha Schareina, are entered.
